The future is clear…
Richard Paterson from Redcar had a clear vision for the future when he got in touch with Redcar and Cleveland’s Enterprise Team.
Richard who spent 29 years in the Army and travelled all over the world identified an opportunity with a local window cleaning business and decided that he could make a new career out of it.
With help, advice and funding from the Enterprise Team Richard’s window cleaning business ‘Crystal Clear’ is now positively sparkling with a healthy and increasing customer list.
“I’m really happy that I went with my gut instinct and took on the business. It’s hard work running your own business, especially at the beginning, and then there’s the weather – not always great in Redcar! but there are far more good points to it than bad ones.
“Sometimes when I’m out on my round and the sun is shining and I am looking out across the sea and sand I genuinely wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
Richard already had a business degree and felt able to ‘go-it-alone’ but a friend who had benefited from the Enterprise Team’s help told him it was still worth getting in touch.
“I’m glad I went along to see what was on offer from the Enterprise Team. Although I did know the business basics they were still very supportive and made sure that nothing was left to chance – every detail was covered off and they were a big help with my business plan and start-up funding.
“They really were a great help, I will go back to them when I have further development and expansion ideas or just anything involved with running a business really – that’s how helpful I found them to be. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very efficient – I couldn’t have asked for better support.”
