Redcar & Cleveland Horse and carriage business drives stables to success
After a life-long connection with animals, Glenda and Robert Gosling are in the process of expanding their already thriving wedding horse drawn carriage business by setting up a hearse horse drawn carriage business for funerals, as well as a number of dog boarding kennels at their stables in Boosbeck.
They decided to expand their business following advice from friends and those experienced in a similar field, and are now excited and enthused at their new venture with a brand new hearse funded by the Enterprise Team (LEGI).
Additionally, they recently purchased two new black, five year old Belgian Friesian horses. Half brothers ‘Will’ and ‘Harry,’ have a liking for mint sweets as well as apples, carrots, hay and grass.
Robert and Glenda have both had an affiliation with horses and dogs all of their lives and with Glenda's experience of dog handling and clipping, they also offer a bathing, cleaning and clipping service if requested.
Robert, 57, is just as experienced with horses and has been riding them since he was 12 years old, as well as working at a riding school. The couple have been totally committed to their wedding horse drawn carriage project, and are excited at the prospects of expanding.
Robert, the driver of the hearse, added: “This really is a way of life for us as we both have so much experience in this field. You should stick to what you know in business, and there's nothing that we know better.”
Glenda shares his viewpoint, and is equally enthused about what the future holds, saying, “We are very confident that this will succeed, it's just a matter of time. We offer a very good service with the kennels and with the hearse. We provide a means of transport which looks very, very elegant.”
